European Rink Hockey Review: Surprises and New Leaders
Last weekend, European rink hockey delivered one of its most exciting matchdays yet. From shocking defeats for giants in Italy and Spain to the steady rise of ambitious projects in France and Germany, the action was non-stop across all major leagues.
Italy: Serie A1 Heat Up
The Italian Serie A1 saw the most shocking result of the weekend: multi-champion Trissino fell 1-2 at home against Forte. This slip-up was perfectly capitalized on by Bassano, who crushed Castiglione 2-7 away to take the lead in the standings. Bertolucci’s side has now firmly established themselves as title favorites.
Meanwhile, Lodi secured a vital away win against Breganze, moving within four points of the top. In contrast, Viareggio missed a golden opportunity after a 4-4 draw with Valdagno. In the women’s league, Valdagno is now just one point behind leaders Roller Matera after a 5-1 win over Scandianese.
Switzerland: Leader Stumbles, Big Win in Women’s League
In the Swiss men’s league, leaders Diessbach suffered a 4-5 home defeat against Uttigen. Despite two consecutive losses, they still hold an 8-point lead over Wimmis and 9 over Biasca, though both pursuers have games in hand. In the women’s division, Montreux secured a massive 0-11 away victory against Geneve. The standings are currently led by Vordemwald (23 pts), followed by Uttigen and Montreux.
Spain: Calafell Stuns the OK Liga
The biggest upset in Europe happened in Spain, where Barcelona suffered a 4-1 defeat at Calafell. This result has blown the title race wide open. Liceo (4-3 winners against Cerdanyola) and Igualada (2-0 against Caldes) took full advantage and now sit three points clear of the Catalans at the top.
In the Women’s OK Liga, logic prevailed. Telecable and Fraga are tied at the top with 31 points, followed closely by Vila-sana (30 pts). These three teams have proven to be the most consistent after twelve rounds of play.
France: La Vendéenne Remains Unstoppable
In the French N1 Elite, La Vendéenne continues to be the season’s revelation. A 0-2 victory against Noisy Le Grand keeps them undefeated at the top with 28 points. Rivals St. Omer (25 pts) and Quevert (24 pts) also won their matches, keeping the pressure high. In the women’s league, Nantes and Coutras maintained their positions with narrow away victories.
Portugal, Germany, and England: Dominance and Consistency
- Portugal: Benfica showed their strength with a 5-1 win over Barcelos, extending their lead as undefeated table-toppers. Sporting stays in the hunt after a hard-fought 4-3 win against Oliveirense. In the women’s zones, Sanjoanense leads the North, while Benfica remains perfect in the South.
- Germany: Walsum continues its unbeaten run after defeating Remscheid 4-3. In the women’s division, Cronenberg reached the top spot after a dominant 7-1 win over Team Holland.
- England: King’s Lynn dominates the Premier League with a perfect 7-0 record after a 9-0 thrashing of Herne Bay United. They also share the lead in the female league alongside ECU.

Hockey Europeo: Sorpresas y Nuevos Líderes
El pasado fin de semana, el escenario europeo del hockey sobre patines vivió una de sus jornadas más vibrantes. Desde las sorpresivas caídas de los gigantes en Italia y España hasta la consolidación de proyectos ambiciosos en Francia y Alemania, la actividad no dio respiro en ninguna de las grandes ligas.
Italia: Serie A1 al Rojo Vivo
La Serie A1 italiana entregó el resultado más impactante de la fecha: el multicampeón Trissino sucumbió en casa ante el Forte por 1-2. Este tropiezo fue una alfombra roja para el Bassano, que no desperdició la oportunidad y goleó 2-7 al Castiglione a domicilio, asumiendo el liderato y confirmando que los dirigidos por Bertolucci son firmes candidatos al Scudetto.
Por su parte, el Lodi cumplió con creces al vencer al Breganze, situándose a solo cuatro unidades de la cima. En contraste, el Viareggio dejó pasar un tren importante al empatar 4-4 con el Valdagno. En la rama femenina, el Valdagno acecha el liderato tras vencer 5-1 al Scandianese, quedando a un solo punto del Roller Matera.
Suiza: Tropiezo del líder y goleada en el femenino

La gran sorpresa del continente se produjo en España. El Barcelona cayó 4-1 en su visita al Calafell, un resultado que dinamita la clasificación. Este traspié fue oro puro para el Liceo (venció 4-3 al Cerdanyola) e Igualada (ganó 2-0 al Caldes), quienes ahora lideran la tabla con tres puntos de ventaja sobre los azulgranas.
En la OK Liga Femenina, no hubo lugar para las sorpresas. El Telecable y el Fraga mantienen su pulso en lo más alto con 31 puntos, seguidos muy de cerca por el Vila-sana (30 pts), demostrando una paridad absoluta en el podio tras doce jornadas.
Francia: La Vendéenne no cede el trono
En la N1 Elite francesa, la sorpresa de la temporada sigue siendo La Vendéenne. Con un triunfo 0-2 ante el Noisy Le Grand, los de La Roche-sur-Yon mantienen su invicto y el liderato con 28 puntos. Sus perseguidores, St. Omer (25 pts) y Quevert (24 pts), también ganaron sus respectivos encuentros para no perder pisada en una lucha que promete ser de tres hasta el final. En la categoría femenina, Nantes y Coutras siguen dominando con victorias ajustadas fuera de casa.
Portugal, Alemania e Inglaterra: Dominio y Regularidad
- Portugal: El Benfica ratificó su poderío al golear 5-1 al Barcelos, estirando su ventaja como líder invicto. El Sporting se mantiene en la pelea tras un sufrido 4-3 ante Oliveirense. En el femenino, Sanjoanense y Escola Livre mandan en el Norte, mientras que el Benfica sigue intratable en el Sur con puntaje perfecto.
